This mission couldn't be more urgent then today , as we write these lines because of the horrific earthquake that devastated Haiti .
That is why we are proud to announce our partnership with happyhaiti , an organization founded by our friends Ingrid Lemke Czichomski and her husband Peter.
Even before the recent earthquake disaster the Czichomski’s had donated multiple acres of land to address the poverty in Haiti (land located in Morne Tranchant, between Kenscoff and Furcy). Now after the earthquake catastrophe, Happy Haiti’s services are needed even more.
“The idea has been to teach them how to build dome-shaped homes that are resistant to hurricanes and earthquakes,” she said. “We need to start thinking of the future and build it right.”
In addition to building dome housing to replace the multitude of inhabited shacks, the Foundation is on target to build a trade school campus, which will create local jobs and provide needed employment training, thereby impacting the local economy. The training facility would also teach English, French, Spanish, Arts & Crafts, Woodwork and other trades.
Additionally the foundation’s long-term goals are to build roads, install sewage systems, water wells and latrines.
